Biography
Toby is a 21 year old French horn student in his final year at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and an ABRSM Scholar.  Having attended the Junior RNCM since the age of 11,  he obtained Grade 8 distinction at 14  years old and ARSM Diploma at 17 years old.  Outside of the Junior RNCM he also obtained a distinction at Grade 8 E Flat horn.

He was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain (NYO) with performances at major music venues including the BBC Proms 2022 and 2023 at the Royal Albert Hall. 

More locally, he has performed with many RNCM projects such as the RNCM Symphony Orchestra, brass ensemble and wind orchestras. As a soloist, Toby has performed at lunch time concerts including the Buxton Opera House, RNCM, Bury Church and Didsbury coffee concerts. In addition, he has performed concertos with the Manchester Beethoven Orchestra and the Junior RNCM Symphony Orchestra.  

He has enjoyed having the opportunity to work with the Hallé and BBC Philharmonic on their Professional Experience Schemes through the RNCM.

This coming year he is playing concertos with the Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra and the Opera North Youth Orchestra.

He has been highly commended and a finalist in the RNCM Concerto competition 2026.  

Alongside his studies he works on a freelance basis with the National Children's Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra Inspire Programme, English School's Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and the Halle Orchestras and has an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS).

He is an active member of a number of chamber groups and other ensembles.
